This month, legislative Democrats unveiled a clean proposal to expand Medicaid and make health care affordable and accessible for more than 500,000 North Carolinians. A top priority for Governor Cooper, legislative Democrats, and the North Carolina Democratic Party, expanding Medicaid is the very first thing on Democrats’ list for the 2019 session.
To rally support, North Carolina Democrats are holding public events in communities across the state.
NCPD is excited to partner with our Democratic legislators to launch our “Town Hall: Community Conversation Series” to spread the word about the importance of expanding Medicaid and hear about the issues that are impacting their communities. Our first stops will be in Alamance and Guilford Counties.
Expanding Medicaid is a top priority for North Carolina Democrats. Working families shouldn’t have to go without access to health care. More than 500,000 working people fall in the health care coverage gap.
Expanding Medicaid would ease the burden on rural hospitals, create 43,000 jobs, save lives, and connect people with quality mental health care.
Expanding Medicaid makes fiscal sense. Cost for the expansion would be covered by hospitals and health care systems and by the federal government.
