#CLASSSIZECHAOS The NCGA returns for another special session on January 10th, so let’s welcome them back the DAY before with what’s on all of our minds!
Join us Tuesday January 9th from 4:00-6:00 PM for an old fashioned TWITTER STORM! Our elected representatives need to know how seriously we take the impending fiasco caused by unfunded K-3 class size restrictions. School districts need quaranteed funding and more time!
Be ready to join us and our partners at NCAE and the NC Justice Center as we rain tweets on our reps! The NCGA must fix the slow-moving disaster that threatens to engulf districts, enhancement teachers, schools, and families.
We’ll be using the #ClassSizeChaos hashtag so they won’t have any question about what we’re tweeting about.
Local school districts want the NCGA to restore the original HB13 bill to allow more local flexibility in K-3 class sizes. Further, our school districts deserve to have the enhancement teachers (“specials”) FULLY funded in January to allow time for budgeting. We are also adding the NCGA to allow a hardship waiver for school districts who can justify the need for more time to find qualified teachers and additional classroom space. Lastly, join us is asking our legislators to RESTORE CAPS to Grades 4 and 5 that they removed in 2013!
Remember to @ your members and legislative leaders, and consider using the following tweets, or your own variations, with the proper handles in place. (Take care not to draft tweets longer than 130 characters so that you’ll have room for handles.)
